Happy New Year! Thanks for being part of a wonderful 2023 at Medina Lindy. Julie and I were at Bent’s Opera House NYE party last night and had a blast dancing our way into 2024. We look forward to continuing our dancing this year with each of you. Dance More in ’24!
We will take today, New Years Day, off and so we will start our January lesson series next week on January 8th at 7PM at Bent’s Opera House. We’ll also hold lessons on Monday the 15th at 7.
Julie and I will be out of the country on January 22nd so no lessons that day. Our third lesson of the month will be Monday, January 29th at 7 PM, immediately followed by our JITTERBUG info session (see below).
With winter upon us, it’s worth mentioning that if weather ever gets in the way of a dance lesson or a dance, I’ll post it to the Medina Lindy Facebook page and to www.MedinaLindy.com/events.
As a reminder, our dances are now on the second Thursday every month so our dance will be on January 11th at 6:30 (for the lesson) and 7:30 (for the dance itself).
As I mentioned before, I’m in production on a Hollywood feature film involving Lindy Hop, currently titled JITTERBUG. Part of it will be shot locally. I’m hosting an information session about the film on Monday Jan 29th at 8 PM at Bent’s Opera House, right after our normal weekly swing dance lesson. All are welcome. See below for details.
Here are all the details:
- Lessons: The weekly lessons will be on the following Mondays: January 8th, 15th, and 29th at 7:00. (No lesson on the 22nd; I’ll be out of the country.) Lessons will focus on the Lindy Circle and related patterns. We start each month at the beginning so no prior dance experience is needed! No dance partner is needed, either.
- January Dance (now on the second Thursday): Our monthly dance in January will be on January 11th starting at 6:30 with a beginner lesson. Then the dance will run from 7:30 to 10 as usual. Note the new week change. Dances in 2024 will be on the second Thursday each month.
- JITTERBUG Movie: I’m in production on a Hollywood feature film involving Lindy Hop with a working title of JITTERBUG. The film is currently scheduled to shoot this summer both in Sweden and locally. I’m hosting an information session about the film on Modnay Jan 29th at 8 PM at Bent’s Opera house (immediately after our lesson). A film needs many people excited to spread the word. You can find information about the film at www.JitterbugMovie.com, or email me with questions.
That’s all for now. Wishing you all an amazing 2024!
Thanks,
-Phil Berry
